The Burrows Legacy Continues

Wath RUFC are delighted to introduce that our new Head of Rugby for the 25/26 season is former Newcastle Falcons player (and proud product of our junior section) …. RYAN BURROWS!
Ryan followed in his father Kevin’s footsteps and started his playing career at Wath, quickly showing his potential throughout his time with our junior section. He was soon picked up by Yorkshire and furthered his development at Dinnington RUFC until the age of 18. Cleckheaton were soon interested where Ryan played half a season before being signed by Rotherham Titans!
After a four- and half-year spell (and 120 appearance) at Titans, he moved on to Leeds Carnegie. Ryan spent 6 years with Leeds and made 150 appearances, most of which as Captain. Then came the inevitable move to the Premiership! Ryan signed a 2-year deal with Newcastle Falcons. He represented the club 30 times in the Amlin Cup, Heineken Cup and in the Premiership.
Following a successful spell at Newcastle, Ryan made the move to the Midlands and signed for Coventry. He made over 50 appearances in 3 years, all of which as Captain. After 15 years and over 350 appearances, Ryan retired from the professional game and has continued to play for Sheffield for the last 3 seasons. During his professional career Ryan achieved many things including being picked in the Championship team of the season no fewer than FIVE times!
In recent years Ryan has taken up the role as Rugby Development Manager at Wath Academy. This is a role he thoroughly enjoys and he his helping to shape the future of so many young players.
Ryan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with him and with it, a new chapter in the club’s history. We are extremely excited to have Ryan on board and cannot wait to see the development of rugby at Wath for both male and female players.
And just in case anyone was wondering…. NO.… Ryan hasn’t hung up his boots just yet! He’ll be pulling on the Wath jersey again for the first time in 22 years at the start of next season!!
